From the seashore to the mountain side… my home has always been a small beach town in North Carolina called Wilmington. On most hot summer days Saturdays, I could be found on the sand in Wrightsville beach or on the water boating, kayaking, the works!
When I started applying to grad schools I wanted a change of scenery, I mean if you’re going to move, really move, right? That desire, as well as my need for a good academic fit, landed me at Radford University here in Blacksburg, Virginia. At Radford, I am currently working on my Masters in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
Through great people, whom I would soon call fellow Rackers, I was introduced to Rackspace Hosting. Most, outside of our company, would probably wonder how I found myself here… as I am not the most techie person in the world. And to answer that I would say, Rackspace Hosting’s culture truly demonstrates everything I believe an organization should have. To learn from a company like this in parallel with what I am learning in school is such a unique opportunity.
The passion Rackers have is contagious and motivates me to learn more about all of the ways we are changing technology and coming out on top in our industry! But my real passion lies within the unique individuals hired here that go on to become a part of the Rackspace family. In school, I am learning how organizations select the right employees, keep them there, and become more successful because of it. I am experiencing this very thing every day at Rackspace. I started in the Blacksburg office on January 17th working on our recruiting efforts at local universities and I am proud to be a Racker!
On my days off, I enjoy new outdoor activities and can be found kayaking on the river or hiking the beautiful mountains Virginia has to offer. Blacksburg has become my new home and every day I am getting to know more and more amazing people – many of which I learn from and work side by side with at Rackspace.
Check out opportunities in Blacksburg!
