I filled one hundred water balloons last week. And that’s not counting the 100 or so that were filled by someone else. Water balloons that were going to be thrown, catapulted, and smashed, throwing water everywhere, in less than five minutes.
It took over an hour to make them, tediously filling and tying – and I’d do it all over again any day.
Not because I like filling water balloons, but because I am committed to treating my fellow Rackers like friends and family. For me, that means going above and beyond what is comfortable. It means listening intently and paying attention. It means doing what I say I will do.
Sometimes, it means filling water balloons.
Because there’s not much that is more gratifying than seeing grown-ups turn to kids and teams made out of strangers and raucous, wild play in the middle of a workday.
There is something special that happens when people come together for nothing more than a short, mid-day break. They relax, meet new people, laugh, have fun and share ideas. This is the stuff of life and this is the heart of Fanatical Days of Summer.
This week we limboed and had a water balloon fight. Then, because there was unfinished business, we had Round 2 of the water balloon fight. We ate strawberry shortcake and ice cream. None of this is fancy. None of it is rocket science. But when done consistently, with passion and commitment every day, it creates something very special!
