Back in Q1, we kicked off the “quarterly week of volunteering” to make it easy for Rackers to use their new volunteer PTO . Last week, Rackers rocked it hard for Q2’s week of volunteering!
We arranged activities at different organizations throughout the week. Day 1 was the San Antonio Food Bank where volunteers worked in the Community Kitchen packing lunch boxes for various programs the organization serves. In addition, Volunteers helped in the warehouse and by organizing the office. They worked so hard they got to leave early because there wasn’t any more work left! Day 2 was Habitat for Humanity where Rackers busted out the power tools and worked on roofing one of the houses! Day 3 was Parks and Recreation where volunteers got muddy and sweaty while working on beautification projects such as flower beds at Woodlawn Lake Park. Day 4 was the Animal Defense League where Racker volunteers spent the day loving on the dogs that are waiting to be adopted. The staff at ADL said that the Rackers in their bright yellow shirts were like angels scattered across the grounds! Day 5, volunteers went out to Parklane West Healthcare Center where they helped with indoor and outdoor beautification projects, as well as got to talk and visit with the residents.
This quarter, over 50 Rackers stepped up to make a difference in our community, as well as take advantage of this wonderful new benefit! All Rackers have to do is sign up and show up – it’s that easy!
Thanks again Rackers for bringing it, your hard work has truly made a difference in so many lives. If you want to see a particular organization on the calendar next quarter, shoot an email to allie.howard@rackspace.com.
