Core Values

Racker to the Core

So, what’s this whole “Racker” thing about?

Why don’t we just call ourselves “Rackspace employees”?  It would definitely be acceptable considering how most of Corporate America works.  Create a number of value statements designed by company executives, tell the employees about them and then continue to internally brand them until everyone can rattle them off in sync with a fun corporate jingle.

It would be easier than embracing true values designed by the employees of the company – that takes work.

As employees of Rackspace, we are not simply a number… we are Rackers.  With that title comes a responsibility that we all feel.  It’s a responsibility to embody and live the values that make our organization unique and special.  It’s also a natural responsibility because the values we embrace were created by us in the first place.

We all come to Rackspace from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.  It takes but a few minutes of walking around our facilities to realize that we are a cornucopia of diversity.  Techies, developers, software gurus, non-techies… brilliant people of all different backgrounds who have committed to a common purpose.

The Rackspace Core Values

Our core values are truly what set us apart.  They are a grouping of key beliefs designed by Rackers, promoted by Rackers and protected by Rackers.  They are, at their core, the heart of Rackspace.

For anyone considering doing business with our organization or considering applying to work for Rackspace, I offer you the six values that fill our sails and keep us pushing forward… the essence of a Racker.

  • Fanatical Support in all we do
  • Results first, substance over flash
  • Committed to Greatness
  • Full Disclosure and Transparency
  • Passion for our Work
  • Treat fellow Rackers like Friends and Family

Over the next few months, we will be diving into each of our different core values as to expand on what they mean to Rackers and to those of you who may consider us as your next employer.

Thanks for stopping by our new talent portal.  We hope to see you around again soon!
