Core Values

Core Values Matter!

Whether this is your first or hundredth visit to Racker Talent, you may have noticed that we take our Core Values seriously.  They are a huge part of what defines us as an organization and we enjoy sharing and reflecting on how they impact our daily work lives.

Racker to the CoreThe truth is, it would be difficult to become or remain in the capacity of “Racker” unless you embrace the Core Values.  Wayne Roberts, our SVP of HR, states in his past post, “We start with our Core Values.  Rackers must share them as a starting point.  If they don’t, they aren’t Rackers no matter their experience or talent level.  We believe someone must already share those values rather than conform to them once they join.”

Furthermore, we also reinforce and diligently communicate our values in an attempt to help people considering our organization make a solid employment decision.

  • Are we the type of company you want to be a part of?
  • Do we share the same values that you do?
  • Are you going to be happy long-term as a contributor to our cause?
  • Are you making a good decision for your personal and professional future?

If after considering these questions, you still feel that Rackspace is the right place for you, we encourage you to apply!

Take a look at this quick video on our Core Values featuring our CEO, Lanham Napier, and a variety of other Rackers.

  1. Holy cow!

I’ve been trudging through my college career, making good grades and trying to figure out what my dream job was… NSA? FBI? Homeland Security? SAIC? They all have great things to offer and I *know* I have great things to offer them… but there was no spark. (¬_¬) (⌐_⌐)

After spending several years in the military, those places had a feel of comfort for me, but no pizazz.

Last week, my neighbor (also a full time student) told me that you guys were going to be at her university. “Rackspace? what do they do?” So I began to research. And read. And watch videos… I’m finding that I just kind of hang out here at rackertalent.com (cause it’s an awesome and exciting place to be) but then I get stuck. Every job listing looks like a great opportunity to do my favorite things: learn, think, and learn. But I’ve taken classes on almost everything computer related. and I’ve been soooo interested in each and every class. which was great… It made me a fantastic student, but when it comes to knowing which way I want to direct my talent, I find myself in the “I have to pick just *one* thing I like to do?” place. I want to learn new things, and become great at them. I want to be in a community that has a sense of life, business, creativity and intrigue, versus just a sense of mission completion. We all understand that the mission is imperative, but there’s so much more!

But, I digress. I’m writing this response because I really would like the opportunity to hang out with some rackers and figure out if my fascination with your culture is truly a good fit for me. I want to learn more about what you do and what kinds of opportunities are available within your corporation. I would like to talk to a recruiter that can help me better understand where my talents could best be utilized.

    Help!
