I can only imagine the grimace on the face of leaders in most companies when a Team Manager proposes an Art Project as an initiative to drive team building and collaboration across a company. However, at the Rack, that suggestion was greeted with a smile and full support.
My manager at the time along with a colleague spawned this idea that turned a shot in the dark into reality over night. It wasn’t specific to any business case, but was perfectly aligned with our brand of Fanatical Support and our Core Values.
As a team member and participant to the cause, I immediately volunteered to capture video of the experience. Our team built canvases, evangelized the project, and well, the it has come to full fruition.
Rackers across our Support teams took their own time and creativity and built out a number of hand built canvases that blew away anyone’s expectations.
The video found here encompasses some of that footage along with other internal and external artwork, and interviews that have been compiled over time at Rackspace. Our videographer extraordinaire, Dave Sims, put this video together that tells a brilliant story of the role that Culture plays in a business.
One specific interview comment by Support Racker, Ryan Reed, relates each customer experience to a blank canvas. This type of mind set in Rackspace’s employees breeds Fanatical Support and the passion we have for our customers, products, roles, and culture.Category: Core Values
